WHAT IS REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY

Back Massage

Remedial massage is a hands-on therapy which is dedicated to alleviating your body’s stress, tension and muscular pain. It’s used to treat musculoskeletal and sporting ailments and will help you in recovering adequately from training, reducing your physical symptoms.

During treatment, the massage will encourage blood flow to tissue that is being worked on. This is done by stimulating the circulatory system which increases blood flow to the area and helps to speed up the healing process and repair damaged tissues. This will also help increase joint range of motion. This is done by working on the muscles around affected joints that will help in joint mobility and improve and restore your movement. Treatment works to release tight muscles and rebalance the length of tissue to a relaxed resting state. This decreases the tone and tension in muscles to help reduce spasms and assist in tissue regeneration.

Remedial massage also has the benefits of producing deep relaxation and calmness. This occurs in your body because the use of deep tissue massage prompts to release of endorphins. Endorphins are the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of well-being.

Regular massage can also assist in reducing levels of stress hormones.

Stress reduction with remedial massage comes from a decrease in cortisol (the hormone produced when we are in pain and stressed).

Massage will promote an increased level of serotonin and dopamine, which will help improve your mood, relieve your pain and encourage a sense of relaxation.
