Dry Needling

Dry needling involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into myofascial trigger points or dysfunctional tissue to reduce pain and improve movement.

How Our Practitioners Use Dry Needling

1. Release Trigger Points
When a needle stimulates a trigger point, it may create a local twitch response. This can:

  • Decrease muscle tension

  • Improve neuromuscular efficiency

  • Restore normal muscle activation patterns

2. Reduce Persistent Pain
Dry needling can help with:

  • Chronic neck and back pain

  • Shoulder and hip dysfunction

  • Tendinopathies

  • Repetitive strain injuries

It works by influencing both local tissue physiology and the central nervous system’s pain processing mechanisms.

3. Improve Range of Motion
By reducing muscular guarding and neuromuscular inhibition, dry needling can:

  • Enhance joint mobility

  • Improve movement patterns

  • Prepare tissue for strengthening work

4. Enhance Rehabilitation Outcomes
Dry needling is often combined with:

  • Corrective exercise

  • Manual therapy

  • Motor control retraining

This integrated approach ensures that improvements in tissue tone translate into lasting functional gains.
